The site is located in a small og cosy pocket in Aarhus. A place with a special identity, where history of culture and leisure activities are dominant - a site that - as it will be surrounded by city - will remind us about the original harbour. A harbour that as a breathing hole offers something different from the more dynamic city life.

It is this quality, which we aim to preserve and strengthen. To underline the spirit and scale of the area and the affiliation of the project, we have named the entire development “the maritime village” and our building “the maritime house”.

The project is a translation from the scale of the more dense central harbour into the smaller scale of the western part. The building erodes translating the difference through a change in height and a change in typology.
