Brøset is a prestigious parallel competition, concretizing the Norwegian government's ambition of becoming CO2-neutral in 2030. The project shows how a modern, sustainable environment arises from attractive choices for all inhabitants to live a more convenient and cheaper everyday life.

Brøset is to be prototype for a CO2-neutral urban environment where environmental sustainability also means social sustainability and enhanced quality of life for each and everyone. Beside architectural creativity the assignment entails new ways of organizing the neighborhood's everyday life. The project suggests forward-looking and holistic development plans which not only presents a new environment in Brøset, but becomes the whole nation's role model of climate friendly ways of living.

'A unique everyday life' includes outstanding building and urban space design, cheap organic food and unique social communities. The project presents sustainable strategies for landscape, urban spaces, infrastructure, energy and resources as well as new forms of density which combines the qualities of single housing with the cultural and social diversity of the public life.
