After the demolition of the café Sommerlyst and others, there is a void in the middle of Holmbladsgade. Now is the time to lay the foundation for an even closer and livelier neighbourhood. The building on the plot will be a centrepiece in the identity of the neighbourhood. It is a wish that the new building keeps the block structure intact, as it is a strength and quality across the town that creates well-defined streets and semi-private courtyard spaces. Furthermore there is a wish for the building to relate to its surroundings in heights, windows and materials.

The proposal has a desire to reinforce the existing urban qualities that already make the Holmbladsgade area to leave the impression of a unique, coherent and diverse neighbourhood in Copenhagen. With the proposal we wish to unite the interlinked multi story typologies of Holmbladsgades with the smaller scale of the side streets, the more diverse typologies and intimate urban spaces.

The main street of the area is kept, and the strong identity that is characteristic for Copenhagen is amplified by continuing the height of the buildings and creates an open ground floor with public functions.

Along Holmbladsgade you will go on a journey of discovery in the many side streets, stuffed with experiences where the density of heights and material is great. The proposal intensifies this experience and creates a building with varying height, roof pitches and expressions.

With this approach and design of the new building, we wish to establish a varied selection of dwellings. Apartments, row houses, villas, duplexes and penthouse apartments plus large, medium and small apartments that together can gather a diverse mix of people.
