With renovations in the old heart of the city and the recent competition to rebuild the historical Kvosin district, Reykjavik is finally embracing the richness of its past. At the same time, a new Reykjavik is being born – one of great musical performances, international focus and architectural invention. The new headquarters will be located exactly at this intersection between the old center of the city and the new.

We propose therefore a building that embodies this state of transformation: a historical, urban, architectural and programmatic connector that knits together the old fabric of the city center with the new scale of the East Harbor. Inspired by patterns of weaving in both the artistic and literary history of Iceland, the project Urban Interlace – is a building that facilitates connections and uses an urban vitality to create a diversity of spaces and experiences.
