A coherent upgrade of the streets and plazas of central Herning will no doubt add quality to the center, nevertheless this is a very typical behavior which is currently happening in many Danish provincial cities. To create new experiences and a unique identity, it is neccesary to look at the distinctive character of the city.

Herning lanscapes is a concept for the transformation of the courtyards of the central city, which are currently working as backside public parking areas for the inhabitants.

Over time this parking is put underground and the asphalt is transformed into a green lung - in opposition to the urban frontside of the city. A series of different Danish landscapes are distributed creating a special identity for each block.
